Knox Conversions are able to transform that seldom visited dingy cellar or basement into a truly gorgeous and cosy living area. We currently provide two main solutions with respect to waterproofing an underground basement area.
Our first method is called Internal Tanking which usually works well against simple dampness when it has been applied to an appropriately strong substrate. Knox Conversions carry out the tanking with correct cement based renders and screed, ensuring waterproof coatings are then bonded to the walls and floor.
The other method Knox Conversions employ involves lining the basement with waterproof membranes. This requires that a cavity space remains between the original wall surface and the new membrane, down which any water will then run into channels specifically built for drainage, following which it passes on into a sump in the floor of the basement. The water by means of a pump is then removed to an area where it cannot penetrate back.
Knox Conversions ensure that all of the workmanship and the materials used for your basement conversion are second to none, with all work subject to approval by the Local Authority Building Control Department.
